By Road
Regular buses from Visakhapatnam (~215 km), Bhubaneswar (~385 km) and Koraput connect via NH-326.
By Air
Nearest airport is Visakhapatnam (VTZ), about 215 km away — taxis and trains connect onward to Rayagada.
Best Time to Visit
October to February — waterfalls in full post-monsoon flow and pleasant winter weather for sightseeing.
Getting Around
Autos cover the town easily; hire a car or bike for Chatikona, Minajhola and Niyamgiri day trips.
Good to Know
Carry cash outside town, plan Chatikona on a Wednesday for the tribal haat, and always ask before photographing people.
